Union Home Minister Amit Shah Calls Pelting Of Stones & Bricks On BJP National President J P Nadda's Convoy & Other BJP Leaders As "Sponsored Violence"

On their way from Kolkata to Diamond Harbour area in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas District, bricks and stones were hurled on Thursday at BJP national president J P Nadda's convoy.

Several cars in the convoy, including that of BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh, were also completely shattered in the commotion, with scary visuals emerging. About ten BJP leaders, including Vijayvargiya and Mukul Roy, received minor injuries.

Owing to this as well as a purported lapse in Nadda's security, Home Minister Amit Shah has dialed the Bengal DGP on Thursday.

Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar expressed concerned over today's incidents and tweeted the following:

Taking to Twitter, Vijayvargiya said that Bengal Police was already informed about JP Nadda's visit but still they failed in providing him security. "Near Siralkol bus stand, TMC goons beat up BJP workers in front of the police and pelted stoned on my car," the BJP leader said. According to PTI sources,  vehicles of media personnel, too, were not spared. The police later intervened and ensured the passage of the convoy.

The scenes I saw while coming here are highlights of the anarchy prevailing under (Chief Minister) Mamata Banerjee in Bengal. We were able to reach here because of the blessings of Maa Durga. TMC workers left no stones unturned to stop or finish us. This is ‘goondaraj’. I had a bullet proof car. But almost all other cars were damaged,” said Nadda while speaking to Karyakartas in Diamond Harbor, which falls under the Lok Sabha constituency of TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee.

Bengal used to be known for its culture, but Mamata Banerjee brought it down to this low, said Nadda. “There is no administration here. Administration has collapsed. Without central forces there is no way of moving in Bengal,” Nadda added. “While I was coming, I saw ordinary people and how they are scared. Parivartan has already taken place in Bengal. People have turned their faces away from Mamata Banerjee.
