16-Year-Old Boy Commits Suicide by Hanging, as Father had Refused to Buy a New Phone due to Financial Issues.

In a tragic incident highlighting new media's negative influence on youngsters, a 16-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur after his father refused to buy him a new Android mobile phone, citing financial constraints.

Police said the now-deceased teenager, identified as Satyam Dwivedi, was a Class 12 student at a local school. For the past few days, he had been asking his father to buy him a new mobile phone. His father told him that he won't be able to spare money for a phone since he was facing financial issues. His father, however, assured him that he would get him a cellphone after some time.

What Had Happened?

A Police Officer quoted,“On Saturday, he repeated his demand. But when his parents turned down his demand, citing financial constraints, the boy locked himself in his room. When he did not come out for long, his mother Sulekha went inside the room and found him hanging. She immediately raised an alarm and informed her husband and other family members.

The officer said the body of the teenager was sent to a hospital for post-mortem. Further investigations into the case are underway, he added.

Another incident

In another incident, a female Sub-Inspector (SI), posted at Anupshahr police station in Bulandshahr district, allegedly hanged herself to death from a ceiling fan at her residence. The woman has left behind a suicide note, wherein she held herself responsible for her extreme step.

The now-deceased SI, identified as Aarjoo Pawar (30) was found dead hanging from the ceiling fan by her landlady, who informed the police. Following this, police officials reached the spot and did the videography of the area. They brought down Aarjoo and took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced brought dead.
