A domestic passenger has been detained by the Air Customs officers of Goa at Dabolim airport and recovered foreign origin gold weighing 2170 grams having approximate value of Rs 95.03 lakhs.
The passenger, who has been a native of West Bengal, has arrived from New Delhi by Vistara Flight (No- UK847). The said gold has been seized under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962.
“Goa customs officers have successfully busted a modus operandi whereby an International passenger brought the smuggled gold from Dubai to Delhi and purposely left the gold below his seat with knowledge that same flight will be on domestic run from Delhi to Goa,” said Y B Sahare, Assistant Commissioner of Customs.
