Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur's innings leaves the game well balanced after Day 3

 

With Day 2 being cut short due to rain,the Day 3 of the final test between India and Australia started with India at a score of 62/2 and in need of a strong performance from the bat due to trailing by a 307 runs.

All middle order Batsmens of India got a good start but were unable to convert it into a big score as wickets kept on falling on regular intervals. India were lacking a much needed partnership and were reduced to 186/6 after Rishabh Pant was caught for the score of 23 by Josh Hazlewood. Pujara,Rahane and Mayank Agarwal scored 25,37,38 respectively.

With No Experience of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin it was down to India's Young Tail to put out some respectable score and try to close out the gap. Washington Sundar was then joined by Shardul Thakur. Both of them were included due to injuries to Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah.

The Duo stole all the headlines as they played out some fearless cricket and added a memorable 123 run partnership for the 7th wicket with both completing their Half Centuries.

Their partnership helped India cross the 300 score mark. Shardul Thakur would depart soon after being Bowled out by Pat Cummins but the damage was already done by him. He scored 67 runs of 115 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes to his name.

Sundar then with the help of Saini and Siraj helped India reach the score of 336 before being Bowled out. Sundar scored 62 runs of 144 balls with 7 fours and 1 six as Josh Hazlewood picked up a 5fer with 5 wickets for 57 runs.

Due to the efforts of Sundar and Thakur, Australia lead was narrowed to just 33 runs. With 10 overs left to play, Australia played out the remaining overs cautiously scoring 21/0 in 6 overs with Warner at 20 and Harris at 1. Australia lead by 54 runs. The efforts of the young duo have left the game delicately poised ahead of Day 4.
