Captain Tom Moore passes away at the age of 100

 

Yesterday Britain's World War II veteran Captain Tom Moore passed away at a ripe old age of 100. He became the heart of the nation during the pandemic for his fund raising for the National Health Service (NHS).

During the pandemic he lifted everyone spirits and made a major contribution to the society. At the age of 100 he was able to raise over millions of pounds for the health service workers who were battling the COVID-19 war.

He strucked a chord in the minds of Britian people by walking around his garden with the help of a frame and was able to raise around 38.9 million pounds ($53 million) for the NHS.

His family have said that he was battling with prostate and skin cancer for the past 5 years and had also caught pneumonia. He was tested positive for COVID-19 and was taken to the hospital on January 22 but was not able to recieve Vaccination due to the other medication he was undertaking.

Born in Yorkshire in 1920, he would go on to serve in World War II in India and Myanmar. He would also become the oldest person to reach number one in Britain's main music singles chart, featuring on a cover version of "You'll Never Walk Alone".

During his sponsored walk he said "For all those people who are finding it difficult at the moment, the sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away."

"You've all got to remember that we will get through it in the end,it will be alright,it might take time. At the end of the day we shall we OK again" he said and reminded people.
