Maharashtra Government imposes lockdown in some regions as daily cases crosses 5000 mark

 

The constant spike in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra has now enforced the government to take strict action. With more than 5,000 cases reported in a single day for the first time in nearly 75 days, the two district Amravati and Yavatmal which have the highest contribution among these, have now been placed under a lockdown with some restrictions.

The lockdown in Amravati is a weekend lockdown while Yavatmal has been placed under a 10 day lockdown. Schools for Classes 5-9 in Yavatmal will remain shut till February 28, whereas hotels and restaurant will be allowed to remain open from 8 am to 9:30 pm and markets till 8pm.

Whereas in Amravati the weekend lockdown will start from Saturday and end on 7 am on Monday. During this period, all markets and establishments will remain closed but essential services will remain unaffected.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now released new Guidelines for Mumbai. Citizens found of flouting rules of Home Isolation, Weddings and Public Gatherings will be punished said BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.
