Mumbai Mayor warns another lockdown might be imposed if precautions are not followed

With the contionous surge of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai, the possibility of another lockdown is really high. However will the city go into other lockdown is all in the hands of citizens said Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar.

Many people travelling in Mumbai Locals are not wearing masks and are also breaking other COVID-19 safety protocols. The resumption of Mumbai Local for all people has been highlighted as the key reason in the surge of cases.

She said "It's a matter of concern. Most people travelling in trains don't wear masks. People must take precautions or he will head towards another lockdown." She added "Whether a lockdown is implemented again is in the hands of people."

Earlier Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had also expressed his concerns over people not following the guidelines. The government has termed this situation as 'alarming' and have warned that 'harsh decisions' might be taken to control the flow again.

"Harsh decisions can be taken and people should remain prepared. If certain decisions are not taken in time then we will have to pay a heavy cost later. The number is alarming. We have seen that lockdown was imposed in many parts of the world again in the view of second wave of pandemic" said Pawar.

On Monday, Mumbai reported 493 cases in comparison to 645 on Sunday and took the overall caseload of the city to 3,14,569.
