Earlier today the Leh region of Ladakh experienced a mild earthquake which jolted some parts of the Union Territory.
According to official sources, the tremors that very felt were mild. The earthquake hitted the parts of Ladakh around 11:30 am. The Richter Scale marked 3.0 as the offical reading.
For those who are unware with Richter Scale markings, any reading between 1.0-3.9 is considered as minor earthquake and no lasting damages take place. Readings from 4.0-5.9 are said to be moderate, with noticeable shaking of indoor objects. Earthquakes above 6.0-7.9 are major and cause great damage and anything above 8.0 and above can cause total destruction of land and property.
