With COVID-19 once again creating havoc in India, today March 22nd marks the first anniversary of the "Janta Curfew" announced by PM Modi.
On March 19,2020 PM Modi had addressed the nation that a Janta Curfew will be imposed from 7am to 9pm the next day(March 20,2020) in the view of rising COVID-19 cases. The Janta Curfew was seen as a preparation of lockdown situation by the people.
The Curfew would then pave way for a 21 day nationwide complete lockdown, which was extended thrice till 31st May,2020. Since June 1, the process of Unlocking started. This was the first time the country has ever witnessed such a move and with the whole world under it's(COVID-19) impact, India too had to follow such a move.
In the address of Janta Curfew, PM Modi had urged the citizens to step out of their home or balconies and appluad the healthcare workers for their hardworking services by clapping hands or banging steel plates at 5pm on March 22,2020.

After October there was a sudden decline in the number of cases.
