Lockdown Imposed in 16 hotspot areas of Thane till 31st March

In view of the rising coronavirus cases, lockdown at 16 hotspot areas in Maharashtra's Thane district comes into effect from today till March 31. The lockdown was announced by the Thane Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.

  • Activities will be permitted in areas outside hotspots in accordance with relaxation under the Mission Begin Again by the Maharashtra government.

The order issued by Thane Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma said that the decision to impose lockdown in Thane was taken in the wake of a rise in COVID-19 cases in these areas in the past few days.

The Maharashtra Health Department on Monday informed that the state recorded 8,744 new COVID-19 cases, 9,068 recoveries, and 22 deaths in the last 24 hours.

So far, Maharashtra has reported 22,28,471 total COVID-19 cases, out of which there are 97,637 active cases. The death toll in Maharashtra stands at 52,500 people so far.
