Negative RT-PCR Test mandatory to enter shopping malls in Mumbai

 

In the wake of rapid surge in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai and Maharashtra, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made it mandatory for people to have a negative RT-PCR test to enter shopping malls. This new rules will come into effect from 22nd March,2021.

If the visitors don't have a negative RT-PCR test, then they will have to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test at the entrance of the shopping mall. In their statement the Civic body said

  • "A team will be designated at the entrance for this very purpose. The details are being worked out."

Recently Mayor Kishori Pednekar had also highlighted the need for another night curfew to curb the spread of the virus. "I think imposing a night curfew is necessary right now. We are also considering shifting the crowded markets to new sites. All Mumbaikars need to work together to prevent the imposition of a Lockdown."

Mumbai reported 2,877 COVID-19 cases yesterday and also recorded 8 deaths.
