"No Need for NIA involvement" says Sanjay Raut on Sachin Vaze's arrest

Yesterday the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Mumbai's Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Vaze for his alleged involvement in parking an explosive laden vehicle near the residence of Reliance owner Mukesh Ambani at the Altamount Road.

He was yesterday called for questioning at the agency's office in Mumbai. After 12 long hours of interrogation, he was taken in custody and was later told produced before a special NIA Court which has remanded him in custody till March 25.

There were some Political leaders who were not pleased with the central agency involvement which included Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut. He said that the repeated involvement of central forces will "destabilize the credibility" and makes Mumbai Police "instable".

Raut said "I believe Sachin Vaze is a very honest and capable officer. He has been arrested in connection with gelatin sticks that were found. One suspicious death also occurred. It's Mumbai Police's responsibility to investigate the matter. No Central team was needed."

"We respect NIA but our police could have done it too. Mumbai police and ATS are well respected but Central agencies repeatedly enter Mumbai and demoralize Mumbai Police. It creates instability in the state and creates pressure on the Mumbai police and its administration" added Raut.

Meanwhile the opposition BJP has asked for a narco test of Vaze and have alleged that the Uddhav Thackeray laid government is openly trying to protect Vaze.
