PM Modi takes shot of COVID-19 Vaccine as second phase of vaccination begins

Today on March 1,2021 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugrated the second phase of Vaccination by taking the first shot of dose of COVID-19 Vaccine. The Second phase of Vaccination is aimed at providing vaccines to senior citizens (above 60 years) and people above 45 years with co-morbidities.

PM Modi took the shot of Covaxin,India's own vaccine developed by Biotechnology firm Bharat Biotech and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). He was given the shot at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

After taking the shot, he would announce this on his offical Twitter account and would urge fellow citizens who are eligible to take the vaccine, to get vaccinated.

Along with PM Modi, Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu also received a shot of COVID-19 vaccine. He was given the shot at a Government Medical College in Chennai.


Both of them along with others who have taken the shot today will be given a second dose of vaccine a 28 days. 

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Odisha's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik are also among some leaders who have taken the first dose today. However Samajwadi Party President has ruled out this Vaccination and has clearly refused to get vaccinated as he doesn't trust this "BJP" vaccines.
