In an action pack weekend of football across Europe, Saturday's premier fixture came from Germany when German Champions FC Bayern Munchen took on Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena in the Der Klassiker. It has been a season of ups and downs for Dortmund who are struggling to make it to the top 4 while Bayern have somehow not ran away with the title yet, as they are only 2 points ahead of second place RB Leipzig.
It was the away side who made the perfect start as they made it 1-0 inside 2 minutes through their young tailsman Erling Braut Haland. His effort took a deflection of defender Boateng and allowed the ball to beat Manuel Neuer and finds its way into the bottom right hand corner.
Soon Dortmund were in Dreamland as Haland scored again to make it 2-0 in the 9th minute. A nice switch of flanks from the fullbacks then allowed then to offload the ball on the left channel to Thorgan Hazard who made no mistake in his cut back to find Haland in the middle of the box to stab it in. The 20 Year Old is right now the hottest property in football and it would be really hard for Dortmund to keep him.
However Bayern Munchen once again reminded everyone why they are the freaking Champions and what better way was to pour salt on wound of Dortmund? A Robert Lewandowki Hattrick. The former Dortmund man strucked twice in the first half, first poking home a cutback from Leroy Sane in the 26th minute and then slotting a penalty home in the 44th minute to make it 2-2.
Dortmund suffered a major blow in the second half, when Haland was forced to be Substituted due to an injury in the 60th minute. The game though was very much in the balance till the 87th minute.
In the 88th minute, Bayern completed the comeback as Leon Goretzka lashed on to a half volley which found the back of the net to make it extraordinarily 3-2. Two minutes later, Lewandowki wrapped up the game by completing this Hattrick as he placed his effort beyond the Dortmund keeper to make it 4-2.
Due to this win, Bayern are still on the top, two points ahead of RB Leipzig. This season might go right down the wire, before we know who becomes the Champions.
