Vasai Road to get two new platforms to improve connectivity with South India

To improve Maharashtra's Railway connectivity with South India, the Western Railway (WR) is planning to introduce two new platforms for outstation trains at the Vasai Road station.

The WR is said to have been planning to construct this two new platforms are the Vasai Road Railway Yard. It is said that the land required for this has already been identified and surveyed by Senior Railway Officers.

This decision is said to be taken after increasing demands from Passengers residing in the Vasai and Palghar district. This can reduce the amount of time and distance the passengers have to travel to board the trains at the Bandra Terminus and Mumbai Central.

A senior WR officer has said "We have surveyed the area and identified the construction work that will be required for the operation of outstation trains towards south India. There has been a long demand for operating trains from WR towards Hyderabad and other prominent cities."

However the project still requires approval from the Indian Railways and may be sent to the Railway Ministry later this year.
