COVID-19 Vaccination in Mumbai for 18+ likely to start from May 15


According to reports, the vaccination for those between age 18-44 is "likely" to start from 15th May due to the shortage in vaccines.

"Vaccination for the new age group will start only after enough vaccines are made available and not exactly on 1st May" tweeted Ashwini Bhinde additional Municipal Commissioner of BMC.

The Government is said to have been focusing on Vaccinating senior citizen first and help them recieve the second dose before they start Vaccinating those between 18-44 years.

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) announced that 40 of 73 private vaccination centres in the city were closed today due to insufficient stock of vaccines. The MCGM has also appealed to people that only those who are eligible for second dose should come for vaccination for the next few days.

Meanwhile Mumbai reported 4,966 new COVID-19 cases and 78 deaths on Wednesday. The total caseload of the city has reached upto 6,40,507 out of which 5,60,401 have recovered from this infectious disease.
