Decision of Lockdown in Maharashtra likely to be taken on April 14: Rajesh Tope

On a day in which Maharashtra reported it's highest single day spike in COVID-19 cases with over 63,000 new cases, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Sunday said that a decision to impose lockdown in Maharashtra is likely to be taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after a cabinet meeting on April 14.

This development from Tope comes just after his meeting with CM Uddhav Thackeray in an all party chair meeting. Uddhav Thackeray is likely to meet to more task force members today.

"In the next two days there will be decision with the Finance Department and other departments. The Chief Minister may hold a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Once this is done, probably by April 14, the Chief Minister may take an appropriate action" said Tope.

The shortage of vaccines, ICU Beds and other facilities is turning out to be strong reason for the imposition of lockdown. Some reports have suggested an 8-14 day lockdown imposition in the state is also on the minds of task force as they seek to Break the Chain.
