Manchester City outclass Tottenham Hotspurs to lift the Carabao Cup for a 4th year running

On Sunday, Manchester City defeated Tottenham Hotspurs 1-0 in the 2020-21 Carabao Cup to lift the season's first major honour. By doing so, City equalled Liverpool's record of 8 League Cup Titles and won the trophy for a fourth season running.

Mere 6 days before the final, Tottenham Hotspurs decided to part ways with former headcoach Jose Mourinho leaving interim manager Ryan Mason with the responsibility to lead Spurs to it's first ever silverware since 2008.

It was a second outing in two weeks at Wembley for City. They lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the first semi final of the FA Cup on Saturday. The final was watched over by 7,773 spectators in the stands as England gears up to welcome back fans into Stadium ahead of the Euros in June.

As expected to be, City started of strong and kept on attacking. They dominace was seen at full time as they managed 21 shots on goal compared to Spurs who only had two shots in the entirety of the game.

The decisive moment game in the 82nd minute when City centre back Aymeric Laporte rose high to nod a Kevin De Bruyne free kick beyond Hugo Lloris in the back of the net. Some Spurs fan may argue that Laporte should have been sent off in the first half for two cynical fouls and was lucky to be only shown one yellow.

City will now be looking forward to their midweek European Semi Final clash with French Champions PSG. City will be crowned Champions of England by the end of weekend if they beat Crystal Palace and Manchester United lose to Liverpool.

For Spurs a top 4 finish is their only priority. They are currently at 7th, 4 points behind Chelsea at 4th who occupy the last Champions League spot. They face relegated Sheffield United and then see a round of 4 tough fixtures in the form of Leeds United,Wolves, Aston Villa before closing out their season against Leicester on the final day.
