On Tuesday a Mumbai Court order probe against Bollywood Actress Payal Rohatgi for her derogatory and belittling tweets against student-activist Safoora Zargar in June 2020 when the latter was under detention.
Zargar was pregnant when she was arrested. To spread this awareness, a journalist had shared some information in their post. Reacting to the post, Rohatgi used foul language and tweeted about the Quran(Islamic Sacred Book), Female Genital Mutilation and sought to know if there were no contraceptives or protection available.
After the Amboli Police refused to take any actions regarding the matter, advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh approached the Andheri Magistrate Court in December.
Yesterday the Court slammed Rohatgi and said "No Individual has the right to make fun of any customs or rites of other community. Prima Facie above tweets show disregard against Muslim women and Community."
The Court has now called for technical investigation."Technical Investigation about tweets is necessary to proceed against accused. Such investigation can be conducted through police only."
