Following the hike in COVID-19 cases in the country, Punjab become the latest state to impose a night curfew to try and curb the widespread. CM Captain Amrinder Singh ordered a total ban on political gatherings till April 30.
The Government had already imposed a night curfew in 12 districts. It has now been extended to the entire state. The night curfew will be imposed from 9pm-5am.
Taking a dig at big political leaders including Delhi's CM Arvind Kejriwal, Singh said "How to do you expect people to be serious about the spread of the disease if senior political leaders behave like this?"
Singh said that no social, cultural or sports gathering will take place till April 30. In person meeting shall be restricted in all government offices and usage of online mood should be encouraged.
He also added that Cinema Halls will continue to run at 50% capacity whereas Schools and Colleges except medical and nursing colleges shall continue till April 30. Shops in Shopping Malls will have only 10 people at a time. Funeral/Cremation/Weddings to have only 50 people indoor and 100 people outdoors.
