UCL Quarter Final Roundup; Mbappe's brace stuns Bayern, Chelsea in driving seat

After the action on Tuesday night, the first legs of UCL Quarter Final came to a conclusion. A repeat of last year's final saw Bayern Munchen host Paris Saint Germain in Germany, while Porto and Chelsea locked horns in Sevilla due to COVID-19 restrictions.

FC BAYERN MUNCHEN VS PARIS SAINT GERMAIN:-

After a close match in the 2019-20 Final, which saw Bayern Munchen beat PSG 1-0 to lift the UCL Crown for the sixth time, this game turned out to be a 5 goal thriller as Paris Saint Germain ended Bayern's undefeated streak in the Competition thanks to a stunning 3-2 away win in a snowy evening in Munich.

Bayern suffered a major blow during the international break when star striker Robert Lewandowki got injured with Poland. Whereas for PSG, they once again had Neymar back into the squad, after the Brazilian had missed the both legs of the RO16 tie against his former club FC Barcelona.

As the snow kept on following, Bayern got the first real chance inside two minutes when former PSG striker Eric Choupo Moting's hitted the crossbar. A minute later, Bayern were 1-0 down as Neymar teed up Kylian Mbappe's whose effort got the better of Manuel Neuer and found its way into the back of the net.

Bayern kept on attacking, but were unable to convert their chances. They suffered another setback, when Neymar notched up his second assist after he setted up PSG Captain Marquinhos who made no mistake in the 28th minute to put PSG in Winter Wonderland. Comparing the stats at half an hour make, Bayern had 12 attempts on goal, compared to PSG's 2. Marquinhos was then subbed off after the goal as he suffered a groin injury.

Those efforts for Bayern then eventually paved their way back into the game. In the 37th minute, Eric Choupo Moting glanced a precise header pass Keylor Navas after a great cross from right back Benjamin Pavard.

Bayern finally got back on level terms in the 60th minute when Thomas Muller rose high to glance his header into the bottom left hand corner from a perfect cross from Joshua Kimmich to make it 2-2. At that moment, it was all about Bayern...

... Until Kylian Mbappe lashed up his second goal of the night in the 68th minute. He was released on by Angel Di Maria and then at Boateng to get into the box and absolutely hammered a right footed effort into the bottom left hand corner leaving Neuer stranded.

The stats at full time showed Bayern's dominace in the final third as they outclassed PSG in number of attempts with 31-6 in their favour. However the most important stat in football is the scoreline and it read Bayern Munchen 2-3 Paris Saint Germain. This tie is not over yet, so don't miss out this one.

FC PORTO VS CHELSEA:-

The other game of the night saw Portuguese Champions FC Porto take on Chelsea. Both have been struggling domestically with Chelsea suffering a first loss under Thomas Tuchel on Saturday. They were hammered 5-2 at home by 19th place West Brom while Porto came into this match with a 2-1 win in their recent league outing.

This match was played at a neutral venue in Sevilla due to COVID-19 restrictions. Chelsea were the heavy favourites to win this tie despite Porto causing a major upset by eliminating Italian Champions Juventus in the Round of 16 on away goals.

The deadlock was broken in the 32nd minute when 22 year old Mason Mount turned around Mbemba to reach Jorginho's pass and fired it first-time beyond Marchesin into the bottom left hand corner.

The game was settled in the 85th minute when Left Back Ben Chillwell won the ball from the defender, ran on and found his way beyond Marchesin and tapped it into an open net to make it 2-0.

As things stand, Chelsea are in a really comfortable spot and should see this out easily in the second leg unless a mircale happens and Porto stun them.
