On Saturday, 29 May 2021, Film producer Ryan Stephen passed away due to Covid-19 related complications in Goa. Ryan had previously produced Kiara Advani’s Indoo Ki Jawani and Kajol’s short film Devi.
- The news of Ryan’s death was confirmed by Indoo Ki Jawani director, Abir Sengupta who called his passing “heartbreaking”. He said, “Ryan passed away this morning. He was battling Covid-19. He was in Goa, his friends and family are doing arrangements for his funeral.” After contracting the virus, Ryan was admitted to a hospital in Goa where he was being treated for over two weeks.
Ryan was also associated with filmmaker Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in the past. He lived in Goa with his mother. Soon after his passing, Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express their grief over the passing of the late producer.
- Kiara Advani, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Farhan Akhtar, Pooja Bhatt and many others took to Instagram to pay their tributes to Ryan Stephen.

Nikkhil Advani’s Emmay Entertainment, which also co-produced Indoo Ki Jawani, paid homage to Stephen, remembering him as a kind and compassionate person.
