Manish Sisodia writes letter to Rajnath Singh; seeks help from Army

As Delhi continues to battle against COVID-19, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has sought the help of the Indian Army to help them set up and run some COVID-19 health facilities.

The Capital is under great pressure with regular increase in new cases, daily deaths and facing shortages of oxygen and other medical essentials.

In his letter written to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Sisodia requested the Defence ministry for their timely help.

"Since the entire health infrastructure machinery is overwhelmed with the management of the existing hospitals and the upcoming Covid hospitals, it will be a timely help to the people of Delhi if the ministry of defence, with the considerable resources at it's command, is tasked with the responsibility to provide and man the additional Covid health facilities as per the current projections."

At present Delhi has 16,272 non-ICU Oxygen beds and 4,866 ICU oxygen beds. The government is Planning to add more 15,000 non-ICU Oxygen beds and 1,200 ICU oxygen beds.
