Sonia Gandhi writes letter to PM Modi seeking free education for kids orphaned during COVID pandemic

Congress Interim, Sonia Gandhi on Thursday has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has to provide free education to children who have lost either both the parents or the earning parent due to COVID-19.

In the letter to PM Narendra Modi, she has said that the nation owes it to such children to give them "Hope for a robust future". She also said that the Navodaya Vidyahalas across the country can help impart education to these students.

Meanwhile Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that the children who have lost both parents or single parent to COVID-19, will be provided a monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 upto the age of 25 years. Also the government will provide free education to them.

The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh have also announced such initiatives and schemes.
