Andhra Pradesh makes English medium compulsory across all undergraduate colleges

On Tuesday the Andhra Pradesh Government announced the compulsory introduction of English Medium at all undergraduate colleges in the state. Telugu which was the earlier medium has been taken away as a medium of instruction with effect from the academic year 2021-22.

  • "It is essential that these students pursue their undergraduate courses in English medium. The transition from Telugu medium to English medium would be easier at the graduation level" an official release read.

This decision of making English Medium compulsory across the state was taken at a recent meeting held by state Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

However, Colleges can continue to have Telugu as a language course in the curriculum.
