COVID Update: Maharashtra Government updates Level wise restrictions; places every district under Level 3 due to emerging Delta Plus variant

 

Despite showing a decrease in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, the state of Maharashtra has showed some worrying signs as cases of new variant, Delta Plus started to emerge. To curb the widespread of this new dangerous and highly infective variant, the government has decided to impose stricter norms by reducing the five level restrictions plan to three.

The Government of Maharashtra had earlier introduced a five level restrictions plan for the entire state. Areas and Districts were put under certain level depending on their oxygen bed occupancy and positivity range and ranged from Level 1 to Level 5 with Complete unlock in Level 1 to complete Lockdown in Level 5.

According to Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, the first two levels having maximum restrictions have been removed till further notice and that all areas and Districts will get maximum relaxations as provided under Level 3. The weekly report of oxygen bed occupancy and positivity rate formula will no longer be followed.

The relaxations are as follows:

  • Shops selling essential goods will be allowed to operate from 7 am to 4 pm everyday, while shops selling non-essential goods to operate till 4 pm on Weekdays.
  • Restaurants will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent occupancy till 4 pm. Takeways and Parcels will be allowed after 4 pm.
  • Malls, theatres and multiplexes to remain closed.
  • Gyms, Salons and SPA's to operate till 4 pm without air conditioner and only on appointment basis.
  • Private offices to operate till 4 pm on all days. Attendance at private and government offices to be capped off at 50 per cent.
  • Outdoor Sports Activities (cycling, jogging, walking etc) to be remain open between 5 am to 9 am and 6 pm to 9 pm.
  • Films shoots to take place in bubbles only and no movement outside after 5 pm.
  • E-commerce is allowed.
