In a shocking incident in Mumbai, a 24-year-old ICU Patient identified as Shrinivas Nagesh Yallapa who was bitten by a rat near his eye at the Rajawadi Hospital, a government hospital in Ghatkopar, passsed away last night.
The patient was said to be suffering from an alcohol-related liver disease and was in very critical condition since the day he was admitted.
On Tuesday night a relative of the patient had alleged that a rat had bitten his eye while he was in the ICU. Hearing this, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar had ordered a probe against the hospital in this matter.
The Hospital Management had confirmed the rat bite incident, but later added that the injury to his eye were "superficial" and that his eye was not affected. The officials also said that the patient was unconscious when he was brought.
Several other patients and their relatives had also claimed that these rodents came from the bathroom.
