Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has found herself in the midst of controversy. On Wednesday she used objectionable language against a Twitter user who posed a question about the status of the city Civic body's (BMC) global COVID-19 supply contract.
The Twitter user asked "Contract Konala dila??" (To whom contract has been given) to which she angrily replied "Tuzya Bapala" (to your father). This was commented under a Marathi News Channel's tweet regarding the BMC's global tender on COVID-19 vaccine supply.
Pednekar who is also the spokesperson of Shiv Sena, later deleted that objectionable tweet but by that time it had already gone viral on social media.
She is a three time corporator from Lower Parel in South Mumbai and was elected to be the 77th Mayor of the city.
After facing several heat from people, Pednekar claimed that she had given her phone to a Sena Activist while she was attending an event at BKC and that the activist posted that reply in anger.
"I immediately deleted that tweet when I got back my phone and saw it. I have learned a lesson from this that your mobile phone should not be handed over to a person even if they are close to you" claimed Pednekar.
