Sweden 1-2 Ukraine; Artem Dovbyk last-gasp winner takes Ukraine through to the Quarter Finals

The final game of the exciting and breath taking Round of 16 of the Euro 2020 saw Ukraine beat Sweden 2-1 after a very late goal in extra time.

Ukraine took the lead in the 27th minute as Oleksandr Zinchenko slammed home from a half volley after Andriy Yarmolenko crossed in a beautiful ball. Swedish keeper Olsen got a touch on it but the shot was too powerful for him as the ball found its way in.

Sweden were back on level terms as Emil Forsberg's shot took a deflection and went in leaving goalkeeper George Buschan helpless in the 43rd minute.

Both teams then hit the post inside a minute. Yarmolenko pulled a ball back for Serhiy Sydorchuk who shot clipped the outside of the post in the 55th minute.

Emil Forsberg was then denied this second goal of the game as a quick counter attack saw Sweden break away. He was feeded by Alexander Isak and cutted inside and tried to bend it into the back of the net only to be denied by the bottom of the right post.

Sweden had a golden chance in the 60th minute but somehow Isak failed to get a good strike as the ball bounced wide after an excellent ball over the top by Albin Ekdal had founded the striker.

Sweden were reduced to 10 men in extra time as Marcus Danielson was sent off for a high boot challenge. The referee originally gave him a yellow but following a VAR check, changed his decision and gave Danielson his marching orders in the 99th minute.

Ukraine took full advantage of the red card and broke Swedish hearts right at the death as Zinchenko's cross was headed in from close range by Artem Dovbyk in the first of three injury time minutes after the clock had strucked 120.

Talk about a late late winner. Ukraine will now face England in Rome as they continue to improve their best ever finish in a major tournament.
