It's Coming Home! was number 1 trending thing on social media on Tuesday as England defeated one of their arch rivals Germany 2-0 at Wembley in London to progress through to the Quarter Finals. Second half Goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane were enough to send The Three Lions faithful into dreamland.
The only thing lagging from such an high impactful game was goals in the first half. England Captain Harry Kane had the greatest chance of the half as just near half time mark, deep into injury time, he controlled the ball and took it past Manuel Neuer only to be denied by Mats Hummels from tapping it in as the German made a crucial tackle.
The deadlock was broken in the 75th minute when a well crafted move saw Raheem Sterling get on to the end of a Luke Shaw low cross to tap it in from close range.
Sterling nearly turned Hero to Zero six minutes later as he casually gave the ball away. Thomas Muller was then played one-on-one with a decisive pass from Kai Havertz. Muller somehow dragged his right footed effort wide of the goal to the left.
And he was punished for that miss as Harry Kane nodded a cross in from Jack Grealish to double the lead. The England Skipper had faced a lot of criticism for his underwhelming performance in the Euros but that goal will surely forgive him.
The result meant that England had Defeated the Die Manschafft at a major tournament for the first time since 1966.
England will now face Ukraine in the Quarter Finals on 3rd July in Rome. Can they actually go all the way?
