6 dead in Lift Collapse Incident in Mumbai

 

In a tragic incident in Mumbai, 6 people lost their lives after a lift came crashing down at a construction site near Hanuman Gully in the Worli Area of Mumbai.

The incident has been reported to have taken place at around 5.45 pm on Saturday.

According to police reports, 5 people were killed and one was left critically injured. Unfortunately the person later succumbed to his injuries which took the death toll to 6.

The deceased have been identified as Chinmay Mandal (33), Bharat Mandal (30), Anil Yadav, Avinash Das (35), Abhay Yadav (32) and Laxman Mandal (35).

The police later arrested the building's contractor and supervisor for allegedly not following safety norms during construction work. They had failed to provide equipments like helmets and safety belts to victims.

A case has been registered against the accused under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections including 304 (II) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
