COVID Update: Kerala imposes complete lockdown on weekend due to rising cases


In the midst of worrying rise of COVID-19 cases in Kerala, the Government has decided to impose a complete lockdown during the upcoming weekend (July 31 and August 1).

Kerala has been recording a steady rise in new infections. It's active caseload of 1.54 lakh cases accounts for 37.1 per cent of total active cases in the country making it the number one hotspot.

According to data by health ministry, Kerala on Wednesday recorded 22,506 fresh new cases and 131 deaths which took the total caseload to 33,27,301 cases and 16,457 deaths respectively.
