Malls and Theatres to reopen at 50% capacity as Mumbai along with 25 district reaches Level 2

 

On Thursday, Maharashtra Health Minister, Rajesh Tope informed that, Mumbai along with Thane and 25 other districts will be promoted to Level 2 [Level of Relaxations] and will be given some relaxations in the COVID-19 curbs. The exact date when relaxations will become applicable, is yet to be decided.

However eleven districts, including Palghar, Raigad, Ahmednagar and Pune which are a part of the MMR region or share borders with, will remain in Level 3 due to a higher positivity rate and caseload.

According to new guidelines which will be released in a few days, the shop timings will be extended from 4 pm to 8 pm, while dining at restaurants and bars will be allowed for a longer time at 50 per cent capacity. Shopping Malls and theatres will also reopen at 50 per cent capacity.

Non-essential shops and restaurants may be allowed to stay open till 4 pm on Saturday. Sunday restrictions will continue to ply as per previous order.

"It has also been agreed to allow malls, theatres to open at 50 per cent capacity. The state will also be insisting that shop owners ensure their staff are fully vaccinated. The government will also discourage the use of AC where large group of people have been allowed like wedding halls" said Rajesh Tope.

Regarding the resumption of Mumbai locals, Tope said that the decision will be taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after a meeting with task force and railway officials.
