History was created at the Tokyo Olympics today as Neeraj Chopra became just the second Indian individual to win an Olympic Gold Medal after Abhinav Bindra in shooting. The 23-year-old clinched the gold with a record throw of 87.03 in the first throw. He bested that throw with 87.58 in the second throw but no one came closer to that.
This turned out to be India's seventh medal of this year's Olympics besting their medal tally of 6 set in Olympics 2012.
Earlier in the day wrestler Bajrang Punia grabbed a bronze medal in the 65kg freestyle wrestling.
