Johnson & Johnson single-shot COVID-19 vaccine approved for Emergency Use in India

 

On Saturday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed that pharmaceutical company, Johnson & Johnson single-shot COVID-19 vaccine has received approval for the Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) in India.

"India expands its vaccine basket! Johnson and Johnson's single-dose COVID-19 vaccine is given approval for Emergency Use in India. Now India has 5 EUA vaccines. This will further boost our nation's collective fight against #COVID19" tweeted Mandaviya.

These vaccines will be brought to India through a supply agreement with homegrown vaccine maker Biological E Limited.

The other four vaccines which have been given approval for Emergency Use are Serum Institute's Covishield, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, Russia's Sputnik V and Moderna.

As of Saturday, India has registered over 50 Crore vaccines across the nation since the start of vaccination drive. With over 49.55 lakh vaccinations in the last 24 hours, the number of vaccination crossed the 50 Crore milestone.
