The Gujarat Government on Tuesday extended the ongoing night curfew till September 25, due to the COVID-19 situation in the state.
According to an official notice, the night curfew will remain imposed in 8 cities of the state for another 10 days. The ongoing curfew was scheduled to end on September 15.
- The night curfew will come into effect from 11 pm every night and remain in place till 6 am the next morning. The 8 cities are- Ahmedabad, Vadodra, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh and Gandhinagar.
Last month the state government had announced relaxtions in night curfew time in the above listed eight cities during Krishna Janmashtami and Ganesh Utsav.
Instead of the usual 11 pm, the night curfew came into effect from 1 am on August 30 to facilitate the celebration of Krishna Janmashtami. Whereas for Ganesh Utsav, curfew was from 12 midnight during September 9 to 19.
This comes a day after the state saw a change in power. After Vijay Rupani tendered his resignation, MLA Bhupendra Patel took the oath on Monday and was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat.
