India allows Serum Institute to enroll vaccine trails of 7-11 years old

On Tuesday, the Drug Regulator of India allowed vaccine maker Serum Institute to enroll children aged 7-11 years for it's COVID-19 Vaccine trials as the country gears up to protect it's children from this infectious disease.

The country has already administered around 87 Crore doses (atleast one dose) to adults among it's population of 130 Crore.

"After detailed deliberation, the committee recommended for allowing enrollment of subjects of 7 to 11 years of age group as per the protocol" a subject expert panel said.

The Serum Institute is already running trials of it's COVID-19 Vaccine on children of age group 12-17 years.

As of yet, Zydus Cadila's DNA COVID-19 Vaccine has recieved Emergency Use Authorization in India for children aged 12 years or above.
