Navjot Singh Sidhu resigns as president of Punjab Congress: Capt Amrinder Singh tweets "not a stable man"

In the ongoing drama of Politics in Punjab, a new tale was written today as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Navjot Singh Sidhu tendered his resignation. However, he will continue to serve the Congress party he said.

He announced his resignation on Twitter while posting a letter he had written to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

"The collapse of man's character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab. Therefore, I hearby resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress" read the letter.


The reason for his sudden resignation is unknown. Some consider the move by the party to not appoint him as the Chief Minister could be a key factor.

  • This development comes merely a week after Captain Amrinder Singh tendered his resignation from the post of Chief Minister as he claimed that he was "humiliated" by the party. Singh and Sidhu had been on the verge of war and regular exchanged shots at each other.

Reacting to this development, Captain Amrinder Singh tweeted "I told you so... he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of punjab."

According to sources, Singh is on his way to Delhi where he is likely to met the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leadership.
