As per reports from ANI, Schools in Maharashtra will reopen from October 4. The news agency in a tweet quoted State Minister of School Education Varsha Gaikwad. This development comes a day after reports emerged from Mumbai as Mayor Kishori Pednekar told a decision of re-opening of schools will be taken after Diwali.
"The schools in Maharashtra will reopen from October 4th. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has approved this. The task force and health department have also approved the decision of re-opening of schools in the state" said Varsha Gaikwad.
In rural areas classes will resume for Standard 5th to 12th while for urban areas, classes will resume for Standard 8th to 12th.
She later clarified that students can come to school only by the consent of parents. Attendance will not be made mandatory for any beneificary exam. Students will receive education through both online and offline means.
