Dombivli Rape Case: 29 arrested for raping 15-year-old minor over 9 months; 4 still missing

In yet another shambolic act of humanity, the Mumbai Police have so far arrested 29 men (2 of them are juvenile) of the 33 accused for the gang-rape of a 15-year-old minor over the course of 9 months in Dombivli.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe this horrific crime. The accused have been sent to seven days police custody.

  • As per reports, this shocking event started in January when the girl's friend raped her and filmed the crime. He later used that footage and blackmailed her and repeatedly raped her. It has been alleged that the accused later shared the rape video with his friends who then blackmailed the minor girl and raped her.

The girl was then repeatedly raped by a group of people at different places in Dombivali.

"It all started when the friend of the girl raped her in January this year. He also made a video of the criminal act. He started blackmailing her on the basis of that video. Later on, his friends and acquaintances gang-raped her at least on four to five occasions at different places, including Dombivli, Badlapur, Murbad and Rabale in the district" said Dattatray Karale, Additional Commissioner of Police (East region).

This horrible incident came to light when the victim approached the police on Wednesday. Thane ACP Sonali Dhole, who is also the head of the SIT in this case, informed that the victim is now in stable condition.

The hunt for the remaining four is on. More updates to follow.
