Lakhimpur Kheri case: Ashish Mishra arrested over non-cooperation after 11 hours of investigation

After over 11 hours of questioning and non-cooperation during the interrogation in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and farmers' death case, the prime accused Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra was arrested late on Saturday night.

DIG Upendra Agarwal, in-charge of this probe said "He (Ajay Mishra) was not cooperating during the investigation and didn't answer few questions. He will be produced before the court".

  • Last Sunday (October 3), eight people including four farmers were killed when a convoy of three SUVs including one owned by Ajay Mishra ran over them. It was alleged that Ashish Mishra was driving one of the SUVs.

Ashish Mishra showed up before the nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday on the second notice after he failed to show up on the first date while citing health issues.

His police custody remand will be heard on Monday (October 11).
