Maha Govt announces special vaccine drive for college students from October 25

The Maharashtra Government has announced a special vaccination drive for students between age group 18 to 25.

  • Addressing a press conference, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed that this special vaccination drive will begin from October 25 and will continue till November 2.

"We have given three days to collect data on how many students have received the first dose. Based on that data, we will make our assessment on the requirement of doses to fully vaccinate the students" said Tope. Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant was also present.

Colleges in Mumbai have reopened since October 20. However only fully vaccinated students with parent/guardian consent are allowed to attend classes physically (offline). Students who are not fully vaccinated can continue to attend online lectures.

"Each college will need only three rooms for the drive.. for waiting, vaccination and observation. Everything else will be provided by the government, which includes medical stuff, equipment, ambulance service and the doses" added Tope.

Both Covishield and Covaxin will be available.
