On Thursday Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil informed that the neither the state government nor the investigative agencies have any clue about the whereabouts of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, who is accused in alleged money laundering case.
Speaking to the media on rumours that the he (Param Bir Singh) has fled to Russia, Patil said that a lookout circular has been issued after Singh failed to report before the investigative authorities despite multiples summon delivered to him.
"Along with the Union home ministry, we're also searching for his (Param Bir Singh) whereabouts. I've heard something like that but as a government officer, he can't go abroad without government clearance. We have issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) and if he went away, then it is not good" said Patil.
Singh is wanted for questioning in connection regarding the alleged corruption complaint that he filed against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in which he claimed that the minister was running an extortion racket and used the Mumbai Police officials to collect the money.
A few days ago, an investigation panel led by retired Bombay High Court judge Justice Kailas Uttamchamd Chandiwal issued a bailable warrant against Param Bir Singh after he failed to show up in front of the authorities.
