Anil Deshmukh sent to ED Custody till November 6

After 12 hours of long interrogation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on late Monday night arrested Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in connection with money laundering case.

The 71-year-old former minister appeared before the ED for the first time on Monday after skipping multiple summons from the past 4-5 months. He was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday in connection with the alleged 100 Crore Extortion and Money Laundering case.

He was produced before a special holiday court today and has been sent to ED custody till November 6. He has been booked under various sections of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered an FIR against Deshmukh on charges of bribery, corruption and criminal conspiracy which were alleged against him by Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh who is absconding.

Param Bir Singh in a letter to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray had alleged that Deshmukh had ordered now dismissed officer Sachin Vaze to collect a sum of Rs 100 Crore for him from restaurants and bars in Mumbai.

Meanwhile NCP Leader Nawab Malik on Tuesday said that the action against Deshmukh is politically motivated to defame the three-party ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance.
