India had suspended tourist visas from March 2020 after COVID-19 brokeout in the country. The country resumed them, 20 months later from October 15, 2021 by allowing them in on charters.
- Apart from a COVID negative report within 72 hours of departure to India, travellers from these 99 countries (Category A) will also need to upload their fully vaccinated certificate on the Air Suvidha Portal.
"Countries that recognize Indian vaccine certificates and their terms of reciprocity, India has allowed quarantine-free travel to their citizens" the guidelines said.
