No cases of Omicron variant reported in India so far says health minister Mansukh Mandaviya

Speaking at the Rajya Sabha during the Question Hour on Tuesday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed that no cases of the new COVID-19 variant "Omicron" has been reported in the country as of yet. He also assured that necessary precautions are being taken to stop the virus from entering the country.

"No case of COVID-19 variant Omicron has been reported in India so far. We are immediately checking suspicious cases and conducting genome sequencing. We have learnt a lot during the COVID crisis. Today, we have a lot of resources and laboratories. We can manage any situation" said the health minister.

On the general COVID-19 situation in India, Mandaviya said that the situation is under control but has not gone away. He also informed that the country has administered over 124 Crore vaccine doses so far.
