18 Students of Navi Mumbai school test positive for COVID-19

According to reports from ANI, as many as 18 students at a school in Navi Mumbai have been tested positive for COVID-19. They have been admitted to the local COVID Care Centre.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner, Abhijit Bangar informed that the school will remain shut until next week and remaining students will be tested at their residences.

  • As per the NMMC, father of one student studying in the school had returned to India from Qatar a few days ago. As a precaution, the person and his family members tested for COVID-19. While the test report of the person with travel history abroad came out negative, his son's report came out positive.

After this COVID test of all students who had come in contact with the infected student was done. As many as 18 were found to be positive.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Friday recorded 8 more cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, taking the tally of such infections to 40, informed the State Health Department.
