The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede's tenure ends on December 31 and he will not seek an extension. As per reports, he was given an extension of four months in the month of September.
The NCB Chief was in the spotlight recently for leading the probe of agency's investigation in the Drugs on Cruise Case, in which Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested.
Following it, Wankhede and his family were involved in conflict with NCP Leader Nawab Malik who kept on attacking and accusing Wankhede over various issues.
Between August and December 2020, Wankhede arrested 96 and registered 28 cases. In 2021, Wankhede made 234 arrests, registered 117 cases, seized over 1,791 kg drugs worth around Rs 1,000 Crore and froze properties over Rs 11 Crore, said the NCB.
