Two dead, four injured in Ludhiana court complex blast; Punjab on high alert

In a shocking incident on Thursday, a blast took place at a court in Ludhiana in the state of Punjab. Two people died and four others have been injured in this incident.

  • The explosion is said to have taken place at a washroom located on the second floor of a District and Sessions court at around 12:20 pm.

Police have cordoned off the area. The rescue operation is underway and the police have launched an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, a high alert has been issued across Punjab and police have been directed to tighten the security at public places.

"Our forensic team has reached. Ours is a border state, so we cannot rule out anything, including the possibility of external forces, as they never want Punjab to be stable; the whole state is on high alert" said Dy Punjab CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.

Whereas Punjab CM Charanjit Channi assured people of strict action being taken against the culprits.

"Saddened over the news of blast at Ludhiana court complex. I'm reaching the blast site shortly and I assure the people of the state that the guilty will not be spared. Anybody trying to disturb the peace and harmony of the state, will be taken to task" tweeted the Punjab CM.
