61 resident doctors test COVID positive at Mumbai's JJ Hospital

On Wednesday, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors informed that 61 resident doctors have been found COVID positive at Mumbai's JJ Hospital.

"Incidentally, there is already a shortage for resident doctors in the city; with many others out of action on account of Covid, it will hamper patient care" Dr Avinash Dahiphale, President of Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) was quoted.

As per reports, JJ Hospital was among the three hospitals the residents doctors of which had decided to suspend OPD services in protest against the NEET-PG counseling delay.

However, resident doctors in Maharashtra who were on strike due to the delay in NEET-PG counseling and other issues had called off their protest on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mumbai continued to witness a massive surge in new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The city reported 10,860 fresh new cases and 2 deaths in 24 hours.
